Potiguar E&P concludes acquisition of Polo Riacho da Forquilha, in Rio Grande do Norte

PetroReconcavo, through its subsidiary Potiguar E&P, closed the first transaction involving onshore fields in mature basins of Petrobras’ divestment plan, Polo Riacho da Forquilha, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The transaction was concluded with the payment of US $ 266 million to Petrobras, after the fulfillment of all conditions precedent and adjustments provided for in the contract.

Marcelo Magalhães, CEO of PetroReconcavo, defined the acquisition as a milestone for the sector: “For PetroReconcavo, the acquisition of Polo Riacho da Forquilha is a historic moment. We are certain that it will be a success and will pave the way for other operators to come and we can resume investments in Northeast Brazil. It is good for Petrobras, good for those who buy and good for Brazil, ”he said.

The contract was signed on December 9, 2019, with the presence of several executives from PetroReconcavo, Petrobras, Sonangol and ANP directors and employees, beginning a new era in the Brazilian onshore.

“We are happy with the end of this very important process for Petrobras’ divestment portfolio. These 34 fields in Rio Grande do Norte will foster the exploration and production industry on land, while Petrobras focuses on deep and ultra-deep waters, where it has a competitive advantage, ”said the executive manager of Portfolio Management at Petrobras, Ana Paula Saraiva.

Almost twenty years after having signed the first onshore field operation contract, PetroReconcavo reaffirms its pioneering spirit and sets out definitively to achieve its 2025 Vision of “Leading the transformation of the onshore industry in Brazil”.
